Bloom: A Springtime Zine Workshop- March 19th
Bloom: A Springtime Zine Workshop with Jenn Walter
March 19th | 6:30-8:00 PM | $35
Warmer days are right around the corner! Join us to usher in the new season with a reflective zine-making session led by local writer Jenn Walter.
Part group activity, part choose-your-own-adventure, we’ll explore the theme “bloom” through zines. Think: fresh flowers, gardens teeming with life, newly hatched chicks… and whatever else reminds you of spring. Maybe you're stepping into a new season of life in the coming months, or anticipating a refreshing change of pace once the weather warms up. We’ll use words, illustration, and collage to bring our spring reflections and aspirations to life.
What is a zine?
A zine (pronounced like the “zine” in “magazine”) is a mini booklet, pamphlet, or magazine that is typically self published. They give us a way to express our ideas, tell our stories, and create new worlds through bite-sized publications. Zines come in all shapes and sizes, and anyone can make one! The beauty of zines is that they don’t follow a strict format or set of rules; the only limits are your own creativity.
What we’ll do:
This class is for all experience levels, whether you’re making your first zine or your hundredth.
Together, we’ll:
Explore different styles of zine making through Jenn’s zine library
Brainstorm ideas as a group for our spring-themed zines
Use collage, illustration, and written words to bring our zines to life
All materials are provided!
If you’d like to bring any print outs, materials, or magazines to work from please feel free to do so.
Space is limited, so reserve your spot today!
This event is on the second level with only stair access.
